Federal Investigation Agency on Friday told the Lahore High Court that Interpol had been approached to arrest Asim Malik, chief executive officer of a 'visa consultancy' firm, facing charges of defrauding public at large. The court directing Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to provide CCTV footage record and other relevant proofs about the escape of the accused to the FIA, the court adjourned the further hearing till January 16 next.

The court also directed FIA officials to appear before the court with progress report on next date of hearing. During hearing of over hundred petitions against the firm, FIA Director Lahore Waqar Haider told the court that the escape of Malik had been confirm and the agency officially sought assistance of Interpol to arrest him.

The petitioners pleaded that they had given money to the company's chief executive officer for going abroad but they were defrauded. They said Malik neither sent them abroad nor returned their money. In the case, the court had already ordered the FIA to confiscate assets of Asim Malik and his dependents and also put his name on ECL.
